Could I Borrow?

Less buying. More sharing.

Borrow tools from people you know

Before buying a tool for a single project, ask whether someone in your circle has one they are happy to lend. Good preparation makes the arrangement easier for both people.

Describe the task, not just the tool

Explain what you want to do and when you need to do it. A lender may know that a different tool is a better fit, or that their item is not suitable for your project.

Availability depends on the owner and your circle. A guide or search result is not a promise that a particular tool is available nearby.

Check condition and everything included

Before pickup, confirm the model, its working condition, and the parts included: batteries, chargers, cases, bits, or other accessories. Agree on which consumables you will supply or replace.

Use a tool only if you can follow the manufacturer's instructions and have the appropriate experience and protective equipment. If you are unsure how to operate it, choose another arrangement instead of guessing.

Leave time to return it properly

Agree on the return date before starting the project. If plans change, contact the owner before the agreed return time.

Return the tool clean and with all of its parts. Point out any problem honestly and confirm the return together. Recording the loan helps you remember whose tool it is and when it is due.
